Attorney R. Scott Mitchell is an associate attorney at Wills and Trusts LLC.  He was born in Puerto Rico and raised on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.  He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy where he was on the tennis team. After graduating from Yale University, Scott worked for Dr. Ramona Edelin, Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF). Working with Congresswoman Donna Christian-Christensen and the CBCF, he created and provided the content for http://www.cbcfhealth.org/, a website focusing on health matters affecting people of African descent worldwide. He also managed the Authors Pavilion at the Annual Legislative Conference for several years.

When Scott left the CBCF, he worked for the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) where he made significant contributions to the “Creating Pathways to Diversity” research projects.  He also published several articles on diversity in BigLaw firms and corporate law departments.

Scott rode a bicycle from Washington, DC to San Francisco, CA in order to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.  He joined Brother to Brother and Sister to Sister United on charity bike rides to raise money for individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS.  Scott trekked to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and hiked the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru.

Scott earned his juris doctorate degree from Howard University School of Law and his Master of Laws (LLM) in tax law from Georgetown University Law Center.
